Office Applications

Word, Excel + PowerPoint

Please complete your April 4th To Do List before following directives for known issues. If you experience problems with your desktop apps remember to use web applications on Office.com.


  1. Post Username switchover check you've signed in to all Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with your bii.co.uk account.

Launch any of the Office applications from your desktop and click on the initials circled on the top right corner.

PowerPoint

Check the account shown is your bii.co.uk account If not, click on sign out and sign back in with your new username


2. Check that OneDrive and SharePoint within the office applications point to bii.co.uk.

Open a blank document in Word/Excel/PowerPoint and go to 'File'

Select 'Save as' or 'Save a copy' and confirm OneDrive and Sites are both signed in as bii.co.uk

If OneDrive and Sites are not pointing to bii.co.uk as per image, please sign out and sign back in the application.

If this isn't resolved in 24 to 48 hours please log a ticket for EACS Helpdesk to investigate further.


Files saved from Word/PowerPoint/Excel to Sites (SharePoint and Teams) will receive an additional prompt to choose a content type.

3. The new Bii Document templates can be found under the respective client application

  • Open an Office application (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) and go to 'File'

  • Click on 'More templates' for Word or Excel / 'More themes' for PowerPoint

  • The new templates can be found under the 'British International Investment Plc' tab

4. Templates are also available in SharePoint Sites and Microsoft Teams

To view BII Templates on SharePoint :

Open a SharePoint site and go to 'Documents' from the left panel to access the document library.

Click on 'New' and templates should be visible

To view BII Templates in MS Teams :

Open Microsoft teams and click on 'General' channel under any team you are part of.

Click on 'Files' and 'New' from the ribbon menu to access templates.

5. Files that appear under the 'Recent' section in office applications (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) may not work.

You may notice the below error while attempting to access a file from "Recent"

Files will point to old OneDrive URLs and will not reconnect automatically. Links will need to be re-shared or alternatively refer to the immediate workarounds provided here for a fix.
